The Mazda RX-7
The Mazda RX7 is a unique car in that it has the rotary engine.
People argue that the rotary is very fuel inefficient, but the fact
is, and there is no denying, that the engine has power even greater
than other much larger engines which have the same fuel efficiency.
RX7s of all generations have had good engines which deliver turbine
smooth power and excellent throttle response. The latest
generation RX7 is remarkable in having the excellent FD3S engine.
The advantage of the RX7 over other performance cars is mainly the
engine. The small engine block means weight is saved. And big
power + light-weight = awesome performance. This is obvious.
But what might not be so obvious, is how this affects the handling
of the car. The weight distribution of the RX7 is near perfect
(perfect being front: rear, 50:50), because of this light weight.
